Interview 0005

Interviewee: Perry
Date: 2014-11-15
Originating board: [r9k]

How old are you Perry?

I am 23.

Why do you visit 4chan and specifically [r9k]?

I have been visiting the site for close to 8 years. Now it's mostly momentum. But it's always refreshing being able to talk completely anonymously. Where you can be yourself, and there exists no personality cults, friendships. All that matters is that you're interested in the same thing.

I'm not sure why I visit /r9k/. I think most of the people there have similar views of the world to me. We're mostly left leaning young people who dislike the state of the contempory western world.

And because of that, they often talk about things which I am interested in

Can you express yourself well in the real world?

I believe so, but I know I don't have a very good personality. Many people come to dislike me after several months of interaction.

Why do you think that happens?

I am a bit of a know it all, and a bit stupid. When it comes to small talk, topics to talk about usually run out. I have hobbies which are very niche, and many people don't understand or look down upon.

Who do you relate to the most, Wojak or Pepe?

Probably Pepe.

How come?

I am not that accustomed to the fine details of Wojak, and I get "feels bad man"

What is a normie?

Someone who fits in with the mainstream culture. A person who is generally extroverted, who enjoys drinking, casual sex, wide friendships and someone who the world's culture seems to be designed for.

What is a robot?

A regular on /r9k/

Do you want to be a normie?

No. I don't think I'd be any more happy as one.

What do you think about celebrities (real and internet ones) appropriating 4chan culture and sharing it with everyone else?

It's been happening since the start. You just have to live with it. The better something is, the higher chance it will be shared.

Is sharing it a good thing?

Yes

Do you have anything else that you would like to say?

I don't believe so. I wish you the best with this project.

Have a good day Ghost.
